  capturing SDI output to a macbook pro (with thunderbolt, and USB 3.0).

  Would like to capture output from a SDI output to a macbook pro with USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt.

  Have tried the blackmagic Hyperdeck shuttle – however, the files are too large! What hardware/software combination would allow the capture at reasonable file sizes (less than 5 gb/hr of video).

  5GB for ONE HOUR of video? Well, that captures to H.264…so the files will be smaller. But they won’t be editable in FCP. Adobe Premiere maybe.
