No transcoding needed for mixing Sony EX-1 and Canon XF-100 footage?
Quick question: a friend of mine wants to mix some footage he shot with a Sony EX-1 with footage I shot on a Canon XF-100. (Footage from both were shot in 1080 at 24p.) He put all of the footage in a sequence set for “XDCAM HD422 1080p24,” which if I’m not mistaken is the codec for the EX-1 footage (and obviously not the Canon). The Canon footage I shot went into this sequence without any problems and *seems* to be okay. He doesn’t even need any rendering, it all seems to work fine. Is he missing a step (i.e. shouldn’t he transcode?) or is this all there is to it?
