    Hi,

I am not sure under what thread to post this under but I thought I would try this one.

Anyway, I am interested in shooting slow motion video but the problem is that I have a Sony EX3 and that can only shoot at a maximum of 60f/24. I was looking at finding cameras online but they were close to 50 grand. I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a camera that does slow motion for under 5 grand.

    Thank you.

    I am what I am.

Sony has a new NEX-FS700 that can shoot full 1080 at 480fps I think?

In terms of under 5K you’ll be hard pressed to find a quality HD camera.

The new GoPro shoots reduced resolution at 120fps 🙂

A host of cameras shoot 60p…that can get you over 2x speed if you use in 24fps projects. You need more? 200fps?

RENT! Red, Alexa…Phantom (that does like 50,000 fps).

Or you can go really cheap and use plugins to simulate slow-mo: Twixtor

Thanks for the replies folks. I need something that has over 240fps. The Sony NEX-FS700 looks pretty amazing especially since it records 960 fps. After looking at a couple of the other specifications I think I might make that my next camera.

FS-700 frames rates above 60fps are compromised by limited duration or by reduced resolution (and everything recorded onboard is highly compressed AVCHD) but a useful step up from FS-100.

    Hi Stephen,

Have you had a chance to play with the FS700? If so, do you have any videos posted of slow motion?

    Thanks.

No, sorry Jurgen, I haven’t seen it yet but very interested in anything 1080p shooting 50fps or more. If it wasn’t a large sensor camera it might be good enough to be my next camera. I need small or at least a sensor with a good crop mode probably more than slow motion.
