  • using FCP and after effects plugins

I have few plugins for FCP and after effects.
For using the FCP plugins, i am copying the plugins in ‘plugin’ folder in FCP preferences folder.
I got to know that I can use after effects plugins in FCP as well, CAN I ?
If so where do I copy them, copying them in the same FCP plugin folder doesnt work.

So question is, Can I use after effects plugin in FCP and how?
    Thanks

They have to be specific for FCP. Not all plug-ins are universal. There should be installation instructions with the plug-ins that will put them in the appropriate place.

I know its perhaps not immediately useful but one thing you may want to consider is that Gen Arts Sapphire work with both and if you buy Sapphire for FCP you get a license for AE as well. You can also rent these plug-ins

    https://www.genarts.com/software/sapphire/final-cut

”A single license allows you to use the plug-ins with all FxPlug applications on the same workstation. For no additional charge, you can also use Sapphire 6 for After Effects and compatible products on the same workstation.”

I use Sapphire on both FCP and Avid – great plug-ins.

Hi–I am curious about this as well as I am adding after effects to my computers with FCP 7 already installed. What Plug-ins work in lieu of buying the Saphire license?
    Thanks much for the help!

You have to check the specific plug-ins. It’s plainly written out what systems they work with. It’s a simple Google search. Type in FCP and After Effect plug-ins.
