    hi fellow editors,

    it’s so strange ….

    i’ve been working with a macro 1.1 / dual core / intel xeon / 2,66 GHZ for a while.
and i used to edit with FCP 7 (FCS 3).
at a certain point I installed Abobe Premiere Pro (as a part of CS 5.5).
and i could work with both programs.

after a while i installed snow leopard in order to install lion. and so i did.
but when i tried to start FCP 7 in lion the FCP-startup screen became visible. however after 10 seconds or so, FCP7 quits it self. and there’s no way to start the program anymore. meanwhile all other FCS3-programs work fine.

i did reinstall snow leopard (after erasing hard disk) and installed FCS2.
in Final Cut Studio 2, FCP6 did open. after upgrading to FCP7 (FCS3). same problem occurs again. FCP7 won’t start. the start up screen becomes visible, but after a while FCP7 quits

does anybody know why FCP7 won’t start up?

    thanks in advance,
    ralph

Try trashing your preferences. If that doesn’t work, try the crash analyzer that’s available in Digital Rebellion’s Pro Maintenance Tools. It should tell you exactly where it’s hanging up. What to do after that, it’s up to you.

    Get the free trial here…

    dennis, i feel so stupid.

trust me; i would have sworn that i already had trashed my prefs in lion (with Rebellion’s Pro Maintenance Tools).

but somehow trashing prefs after you’ve said it (and in snow leopard), is different 😉
    problem solved. thanks!
