So i have this footage which was shot with the HVX in 1920×1080 at i believe 60i. FCP log and transfer transcoded it to 29.97 which is the sequence I’m working in. Im noticing however that I have an interlace issue with the footage. every 4th and 5th frame is an interlaced frame. I changed the sequence settings frame dominance from none to lower. now I’m seeing a duplicate 5th frame. i feel like that is not correct either. I’m also noticing this interlacing on my external monitor in both field dominance methods i mentioned. from what i researched 59.94 to 29.97 should be straightforward. what am i missing here?

1080i/60i is interlaced and you should see the interlacing.
    It is upper fields.
It looks great on a real video monitor not a computer screen.
Deinterlace when compressing for web delivery.

It sounds like you shot 24p which, w/DVCPro HD, can be contained in a 60i video stream. There is specific function w/in FCP to remove the extra frames upon import but I don’t know what it is off the top of my head. I’m sure it’s in the FCP manual.
