I’m thinking about buying one of the 27″ iMacs while I migrate to Avid and Adobe. I still have FCS2/FCP6 on my (very dated) Mac Pro since FCP7 wasn’t much better and I thought there would be an “FCP8,” and my Mac Pro is currently running OS 10.5.8.

I don’t believe FCS2 will work with Apple’s latest OS, so my plan is to use a FW800 drive as a boot drive loaded OS 10.5.8 and FCS2 in order to keep my FCP6 projects accessible. This boot drive should still work with the latest Macs, right?

Also, has anyone successfully used one of those Thunderbolt chassis that allows you to continue using your PCIe cards – I/O cards, eSATA, etc? ex: https://www.magma.com/thunderbolt.asp
