Still Image Workflows In FCP 7.0.3
Hi!
I’m having a bit of trouble working with still images in FCP 7.0.3. Every year I produce a slideshow for a major Scouting event; all the pictures are taken on site throughout the weekend and synced to music, then the whole thing is shown at a closing campfire. My usual method for doing this is to pick out the music we’ll use, place markers on a couple measures of the audio track so the pictures will follow the beat of the music, figure out the duration between the markers, then set the still/freeze duration in sequence settings to match it, so all I have to do is drag a folder of the stills onto the timeline to get it pretty close. Then I painstakingly add a slight zoom to each one by setting two keyframes (one at the beginning and end) using the “Scale” setting under the “Motion” tab.
Is there a better way to do this? It’s a rather simple effect, but it just consumes massive amounts of time when I have just 2 days to go through hundreds of pictures and apply the effects individually. Thanks in advance for your help!

You can copy and paste the keyframes from one clip to all of the others.
Add keyframes to your first clip, then copy.
Select all of your clips except the one you just copied and press Alt+V.
Tick the checkbox called ‘Basic Motion’ and press ok, ensuring that ‘scale attribute times’ is also selected.
Done!You’ll have to go through it and check that all the movements work nicely as you don’t necessarily want all of them to zoom to the same position.
