Trying to Import and Edit 3D Footage shot on Sony HXR-NX3D1 NXCAM 3D
Hello Everyone,
I’m trying to complete a project for a client; however, he threw me a curve ball and showed up with 3D footage, which I am not set up for currently.
He shot on the Sony HXR-NX3D1 NXCAM 3D. I need to know how to transcode this footage and edit it in Final Cut Pro 7.

I was looking at this the other day for a client and what I have managed to work out is that the Sony HXR-NX3D1 records in MVC format which is essentially both left and right encoded into a single file.
I think you can only currently use Vegas 10 to edit it (which comes bundled with the camera)
(Unless someone has worked out a way to demux this footage to L+R)
If you can get it to left eye right eye (which is questionable) then you need a 3D plug in like https://www.onsight.co.uk/OS3D which is free.

I have to say I have not used these plug ins – just passing on my pretty limited knowledge from looking at this myself the other day.

you provided the same link as me but as I understand it the MVP format that is used by that cameara is not compatible with the usual left eye right eye steroscopic files.
Does the Dashwood plug-in work ? I had read this discussion here where Tim Dashwood seems to suggest it does not but may have read it wrongly.

I didn’t research this camera and workflow as well as you. I’m sure Tim is right. And you might be right that only Sony’s NLE will work with it. Very often people don’t think about this when they buy cameras, and shoot. Post is always an afterthought. Well, to a few..
