  • Missing FCP 7 Plugins Folder. Not just missing, doesn’t exist

So I’m trying to install some free plugins like the DH Grids/rulers for some text safe formatting. I downloaded the plugins and I went to bring them to the user/library/application support/final cut pro folder and there was no plugins folder, there’s also no final cut pro support folder either. When I search plugin, plugins, plug-in and all the variations of spelling nothing comes up either.

What’s the deal? Should I just create the folders and reboot FCP 7? I just wanted to ask before I make FCP explode.

Wrong location. Not in the USERS folder. MAIN hard drive>Library>Application Support>Final Cut Pro System Support>Plugins.

You’re on Lion. Apple has conveniently hidden the user library folder so that you’re not bothered by it. But that is where I’ve always installed plugins. That way when I backup my user folder plugins also get backed up.

To show the user folder learn terminal.
OR in the finder go to the go menu. While the pulldown is visible hold down option and you’ll see “Library” item appear.
