  Rendering and codec problems

  I am making a video with pictures and every time i add a picture i have to render it. But when i created a new project i used the same pictures and now i dont have to render them and the video i am currently working on is very long so i cant pass all the footage into a new project. So how do i do it so that i dont have to render the pictures. And another thing that happened was that i changed the codec for another video that i was working and now on the previous project my footage looks all lagged but i dont have to render… Please help
