    Hi,

I have had my macbook pro (2.8ghz, 4gb ram) for 2 years now which i regularly took to school
    and use everyday.
When using Final Cut Pro my playback is jumpy and rendering seems to take longer then usual even if it’s the only thing running!
I thinks it’s from repeat abuse in my bag which is highly possible
Even when using vuze and downloading stuff in the background i struggle to watch movies using VCL without lag…

Can someone let me know what possible issues could it be and whether a simple HD replacement or broken part replacement would fix my problem or should i buy a new one? (last resort)

FCP likes playing back FCP friendly codecs (DV/DVCPro, DVCPro HD and all flavors of ProRes) from external Firewire 800 minimum hard drives.

Editing with h.264 and other long GOP (HDV) codecs really take a toll on playback.

Very unlikely. Learning the correct workflow makes life much easier for the editor.

Can’t help you with non FCP related items. You’ll have to go to the Genius Bar or email their support.
