  Rendering out Animation for Adobe Premeire Pro Which Codec best?

  Hello,

  We have a Film Resolution Animation which is in After Effects I am compressing down to a smaller Framsize of 720×576 PAL I am using Quicktime Photos JPEG 100%.

  Is this the best format if I want to then re-open this in After Effects to perhaps do so additonal compositing at the PAL size as opposed to Converting into a Microsoft DV AVI?

  I mean am I ganing anything using photo JPEG or should I use Microsoft DV AVI? I then will put into Encore DVD and add my voice oevrs and subtitling tracks.

  Do not encode to DV as an intermediate codec. It is lossy and will degrade the image. It is for acquisition.

  Photo-JPEG is fine. In fact, you can even try it at 94%, which is the first place the slider stops (usually) short of 100%.

  Many people also use the Animation codec for highest quality, but it creates large files.

  As I said, do not encode to DV as an intermediate codec.

  Hello Steve,

  Thanks for the tip! Yes I was thinking I am degrading the image with multiple compressions to a already compressed 5-1 ratio.

  I was just notr sure which would be the best codec to use. Yeah I will give it a go at 95% for photo Jpeg. Could I then import into Encore then do a Transode ok with the Photo Jpeg?

  Hello Steve,

  I have nearly finished rendering out to Photo JPEG taken about 2 1/2 hours so far as was Cineon Size then I down converted to 720 76 Photo Jpeg.

  I will try and let you know how it comes out.
