  AE to FCP quality loss in sequence

  I have a 1920×1080 HDTV 1080i (16×9) sequence I exported with the “None” settings in the sequence QT Video Settings – Compressor. I then worked on the footage in AE and exported as a PNG format from AE with the same frame rate and size..

  When I bring it back into my sequence, it loses quality. If I change the sequence QT Video Settings – Compressor to PNG in FCP,it looks perfect, but the playback is choppy and does not play with any of the settings on my BlackMagic box. If I use uncompressed, it looks close, but a little poorer. It does playback on my monitors smoothly.

  Any advice on what settings I might be overlooking?

  OK,

  Your 1080i clips, are they progressive? if not, stay interlaced the whole time until compressing for web.

  Export out of FCP using “Current Settings” take that into AE.
  Render out of AE using the same specs as the sequence. Don’t jump to a 3rd codec.
