Open Captions for production – any ideas
Last year I produced and opera that required tons and tons of open captions. That being my first time with open captions I wound up having to do a ton of extra work without being compensated (around two months extra to be exact). While I know it is best to send it out to a service, I nor the client can I afford it. That being said I am thinking about how to automate this process to an extent.
Since they are playing this out of a powerpoint system I figured I could take a scan converted output and record that. The text is always white on black so I could just luma key it into the video. The problem would arise that I would probably need to add some sort of drop shadow to make this visible to people watching the video – this would obviously be almost impossible (unless I am missing something). Any help would be appreciated.
