    Hi,

I have a microphone cable visible in a shot and I would like to get rid of it!

Ideally I would re-take, but the kids are street children in India and I’m presently in Norway.

Is there a way of doing a good job of this in FCP?
If not, maybe Motion is a better option?

My automatic plan was to sort it out in Photoshop frame by frame, but that is due to me being familiar with masking mistakes in Photoshop.
The ground is fairly messy, which coud be advantageous in this task..

I am very familiar with FCP and familiar with Motion, but have never had to attempt anything like this before…any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance,
    Julienne.

Several ways to do it, just mask out a piece of ground next to the cable, put a DVE with a soft edge on it and place it over the cable.

You don’t have to do all of it, if the cable ends somewhere it will look like other garbage.

But concidering the weather, i would go for a reshoot 🙂

Motion is pretty easy to do masking with. Take a look at the bottom of this article I wrote which show you how to do masking in motion.

Brad Wright is software engineer, so it may be difficult to understand what he is saying. He is always happy to explain his greater detail.

If it’s too much work, keep it in. It blends right in with the garbage on the right side of the shot.
