  DVCPro HD in ProRes Timeline is upscaling

  Hi,

  I’m updating a really old project at work. The original project wasn’t saved. It was only exported as DVCProHD 720p60.

  We now work in ProRes.

  When I drop the self-contained DVCProHD 720p60 video into a ProRes timeline, the distortion parameter changes to -33.33 (as expected), but the footage enlarges to 133.33%. Is that correct? That doesn’t seem right, and that has never happened in the past (unless I just didn’t notice the upscaling).

  The original footage is 720p60 @ 960X720
  The ProRes timeline is 720p60 @ 1280X720 with square pixels.

  Try this. Select the problem clip. The select “conform to Sequence” from the Modify menu in Final Cut Pro.

  I got the same result – Distorted to -33.33 and Scaled to 133.33%

  Thats a handy function in FCP, though. I will keep that in mind when I have an entire sequence of clips that need to change to new sequence settings.

  For now I will just take the video into Compressor and convert to ProRes since the video is a single self-contained Quicktime.

  Does the DVCPro clip shows “HD pixels” in the Browser, and do you have “Always scale clips to sequence size’ (User Prefs> Editing)?

  The Pixel Aspect in the Browser says “HD (960X720)

  “Always Scale Clips…” IS checked in Preferences.

  And I’m still getting that upscaling to 133%

  Then that shouldn’t be happening (dirty preferences?).
  Remove Attributes: Basic motion + Distort.
