  • Alpha Layer/Rendering Issue?

I have an issue with a clip with an alpha layer. Its a transition clip that swipes the screen. Really basic. The problem is that it plays fine just previewing it but when I render the clip out, I end up getting duplicate frames.

    Frame 1 – Frame 1 – Frame 2 – Frame 2 – Frame 3 – Frame 4 – Frame 4 – Frame 5 – Frame 5 – Frame 6 – Frame 7 – Frame 7 etc etc.

My timeline is Alpha Pro Res 422, 1280×720, 23.98. The clip with the alpha layer is Apple Pro Res 4444. I’ve also tried Animation but I immediately get the duplicate frames when I put it in the timeline.

The transition is created in After Effects (CS4) and brought over to FCP (V7). Any help is appreciated

After Effects is very specific about frame rate. The correct rate is actually 23.976 not 23.98 which is lazy shorthand used by Final Cut. Try re rendering the AE file at 23.976.
