We are having perplexing firewire print to tape problem among our editors. Changing one variable at a time has not isolated the problem which is:

When printing to tape via firewire from FCP to various Sony DVCam decks we see video fine, but the audio is distorted dramatically and way too high. The same program plays fine on the timeline.

We need a fix, and an alternate way to get programs to tape. We have a Kona LHI card, and also an SDI in Sony DSR 1800A deck. We do closed captioning.

Well have you tried laying off to tape via the kona?

I’ve had that same problem a few times. I had to bypass the print to tape function and just do it manually from the timeline. If you go to “Final Cut Pro” then select “Audio/Video settings” then select the last tab which is “A/V Devices” you can set your playback output the same as your print to video options. You’ve just got to be careful because you can’t navigate away or no other program can disturb it or it’ll stop.

Hope this makes sense and helps
