  Nesting depth error ! crazy

  Hi all !

  First of all, “in case of”, I precise I’m french, so excuse me if my english sounds bad ^^

  I’m using AE since 6.5 and never had problems. I changed my computer a year ago for a better workstation, cause AE was going to be my main working tool (and that’s still the case today !).
  With 6.5, I suddenly had a problem : during renders, or sometimes previews, an error saying “After effects internal error ! exceeded maximum property nesting depth”. Bouh.
  It stops the render or the preview, so I can’t do much. It appears relatively randomly, but seems to have a link with memory usage ; the problem occurs much more often with HDV footage than SD. Or if I have lot of effects. But that’s pretty random tough.

  So, after LOTS of search without answers, lots of formating/reinstalling/etc. and no better answer from Adobe, I reduced my CPU frequency in the BIOS. Why ? Cause my CPU is overclocked (2.66 Ghz to 3.66 Ghz, yes ! and no watercooling 🙂 works fine). Even if it was stable with all others apps, I just tested. At a certain reduced frequency (3.56), the problem was gone.

  But some months ago I updated to 7.0 Pro, the problem repeated. I thought “Ok, let’s do the same thing”. Sadly, it reduces the “chances” to have an error, but it’s still here.
  The very embarassing thing is that I’m working with it right now on a busy project and I’m losing lot of time cause I can’t render some sequences. It’s gonna be critic very soon…

  I tried nearly everything possible, so anyone has an advice ? Even Adobe official support, by mail, phone, forums, etc., couldn’t help me.

  If you are working with straight HDV footage, there will be a big performance hit since HDV uses MPEG2 compression and it is more taxing on the system to decode it properly.
  You might try converting your HDV footage to a lossless codec like Animation or something similar. The files will be very large, but you will find that it will be easier to work with in AE.

  Yeah, I’m currently conveting cause AE doesn’t like m2t files, it’s a pain to try just opening it… But that doesn’t resolve the problem !
