  Time Lapse problems. Looking for hints or solutions

  Hey there,

  i am currently working on a time lapse project and i got some serious problems. First of all, i received about 15.000 pictures. birdview of a construction area.

  For normal, I put those pics into quicktime pro or PPro and transform them into a movie. Sadly, this is not possible for me at the moment.

  So I changed the duration of imported frams to 00:01 and put them all into the timeline -> rendering -> exporting as a quicktime movie -> importing again = my basic footage. Kinda weird way to handle, but it works for me so far. (this is not my problem, I just wanted to ask if I did anything okay so far, or are there any/better solutions? )

  My footage looks some kind of stuttering and humpy. I want to create some smooth videos.
  Like This I already contacted the uploader via message on youtube, but no answer yet.

  What else can I do. except some small zooming actions and changing the speed levels? I have tried some filters like echo, etc.. but I am still not happy with my results. I am really sorry, but I can not show you any frames of my footage yet. (clearance delivery)

  Your technique for turning your series of images into a video is fine.

  If you’re looking for a smoother effect, when you’re shooting you should shoot with longer exposure times. Anything moving in the frame will blur, which causes a motion blur effect after you’ve converted your series of images into a video. Make sense?

  Hey Bob,

  thanks for your reply. Sadly I just received the pictures. I did not make them. I am just trying to “copy” the effect, which is used in the youtube video above. Did they use transitions? How many pictures per second?

  Anyone can give me some hints?

  I have no idea how many frames per second they used for this time lapse, however, that it’s not hard to create something likable in FCP:

  – Throw all your pics in the timeline
  – Highlight them all
  – Right Click
  -Choose duration, then type in how long you’d like each photo play. The longer the clip, the less ‘frames per second’

  And it does look like they used a cross dissolve between each photo.
