I’m doing multicam for the first time in FCP (6.06). Everything was working fine until I left for a while and came back to it. Now, when I playback my multiclip in the timeline, the 4-up in the Viewer switches to a single camera. When I pause the timeline, the viewer goes back to 4-up, then when I play, back to single, etc.

If I play the Viewer instead of hte timeline sequence, it shows the 4-up.

    Tried restarting FCP, no luck.

    Ideas?

    Thanks!

IN the RT dropdown menu on the timeline, make sure that MULTICAM PLAYBACK is selected.

A little more info: if I step frame by frame with the arrow keys, each frame first shows the 4-up, then immediately switches to the single camera view. It’s like it wants to show the 4-up but gives up. It does this for each press of the arrow key.

    thanks for any help!

I figured out how to fix it and thought I’d post in case anyone runs into this.

FCP automatically rendered my clips while I was away from the machine for a while. I’m not sure why this breaks the multiclip ganging behavior, but it does. By going into Tools->Render Manager and removing all rendered clips, the problem went away.

I went ahead and adjusted preferences to disable auto rendering so it won’t happen again.
