  Making photobooth footage editable in FCP?

  Hi guys-

  I’m new to this site. I’ve been using FCP for a little over a year now, but I am mostly self-taught and still figuring out some technical things.

  I’m trying to edit this simple little video I’m making with footage from Apple Photobooth, but the render time is insane. I’m assuming that Photobooth records in a drastically different format than what FCP is configured for?

  HELP PLEASE. What do I doooo?

  The files are h.264 based, and FCP 7 or earlier isn’t compatible with them. You need to use Compressor to transcode them to an editable format. As far as I can tell, Photobooth records SD footage, so try transferring your footage in Compressor to DV NTSC.

  For what it’s worth, if you used QuickTime to record your movies, you’d get HD video from it..
