I have imported a 2sec QT (25fps animation) from AE when I put it into FCP and try and render it FCP gets to about 25% and just stops rendering the clip. I tried it again and it got to the same point then crashed FCP this has happened a number of times after putting these short animations in from AE. If I place an in point on the FCP timeline and export the selected section that works fine.

    AE 10.0.2
    FCP 6.0.6

Footage in FCP was originally HDV 1440×1080 25fps the timeline I’m working in is 1280×720

These settings haven’t been a problem at all when the footage is being edited and rendered. It’s only when I have exported the 1280×720 square pixel QT animation from AE and put it in the timeline in FCP and try and render that I get these problems.

I’ll give that a go but I do feel its something to do with the animation clip that was exported out of AE because all the other parts of the timeline render ok.

On a side note what is best practice for 1440×1080 HDV footage?

I will start and convert to ProRes but is there any difference in going to either 1920×1080 OR 1280×720 I mean is there a difference in the scaling?

    Thanks
