  FCP Canvas drops out and flickers

  Hi All,

  We are having a problem with about 5 of our edit suites. The canvas seems to flicker and also play the whole timeline in the space of a few seconds. It then occasionally drops out to black. The only way to sort the issue so far is to reboot FCP.

  This problem only happens in the canvas and the output to the AJA card is fine, the video monitor will play the timeline at normal speed even when the canvas flickers. Though occasionally we do get the video monitor dropping to black for a few seconds. We have had the same issues on mac pros that do not use AJA cards too.

  Settings for the media and Sequence are: DVCPro HD 1080p25.

  Any ideas what might be causing the problem?

  Try reseating the graphics card. Might help this. On the AJA systems, be sure that mirroring on the desktop is turned on, and that you’re running the latest drivers for the OS you’re running.
