    Hi there-

I”m having a deck issue with the SRW 5500 during black and code. When black and coding an hdcam the red channel control light comes on. The thing is it only happens with Hdcams, HdcamSRs black and code perfectly and the control light turns green.
I can’t figure out what it could be under these circumstances and thought I’d pose the question to some folks that probably know the deck better than I.

    Any input would be awesome.

    Thanks
    Jean

    Hi Jean,

Off the top of my head, the first thing I think of is the recording format setting. Could it be that the System Rec Format in the System Menu is set to HDCamSR? I’m not close to the deck to check other settings that could be at issue. You may want to post in the dedicated SRW-5500/5800 forum here on the COW.

    Thanks for responding!

I’ve checked the system record format and tried it on auto as well hdcam, no luck on that front. At this point we might just call the rental house and try to swap out the decks, I feel like it might be the heads.

    We shall see!

I got this issue when I wasn’t feeding proper sync. Do you have a Tri-sync generator feeding black to the deck? AJA-Gen10? Decklink? You need that.

Yeah we have the AJA Gen10, I’ve checked that too. Wouldn’t that affect more than just the Hdcam if that was the trouble?

Well we swapped out decks and everything now seems to be running smoothly.
So I’m going to say the deck was having some internal issues or there was some menu/system function enabled on it that I didn’t about.
I wish I knew what it was though in case it happens again.

    Thanks for you help/suggestions.
