Hi, I want to edit HD content using FCP. Unable to decide whether to buy the highest end Macbook pro (core i7 2.2 Ghz, latest ATI gfx HD 6750M) or the (core i7, 2,0 Ghz, 3x slower ATI discreet gfx card)
How much difference would an HD 6490 and HD 6750 make to FCP performance ? The price delta is $400.

    thx

It might be more relevent to ask this question when FCP X is released in June – FCP7 makes little use of multiple cores or GPUs. You’ll see some speed increase going from 2.0 to 2.2 clock speeds. The GPU will probably make little difference. However, I’d be tempted to say this might all change soon…

Whilst using FCP7, look for processors that support turbo boost, as the extra clock speed available to cores for rendering makes a difference.
