Final cut pro Video Problem
Hello,
I am trying to edit a video to music using a lot of my favorite films and I am using Mpeg Streamclip to convert the clips into a suitable format for fcp. so far i have used H.264 scaled to 16:9 on all the Avi Clips of the films. The videos are fine and when I dump a clip of a film into a timeline it plays good, but when i dump another clip from a different movie I have to render and when the timeline increases with more clips they start to freeze up. Can someone please help me I really want to complete this project to improve my editing skills but this is a huge hicup in my editing process. All of the clips are converted to the same format so I don’t know why I would have to render the different titles when the first one is ok. also when exporting the clips skip and you see green screen when there are dark spots.
Editing on a macbook 13 inch FCP 6 2 gb of Ram

Search this forum and you will find that thus question is asked and answered several times every single day of the week. H.264 is not an editing codec in FCP. You’ll have to transcode everything to one of the realtime codecs that FCP recognizes.

H.264 generates 4550 results in Search.
Much quicker to ask the question again than sort through all that info. 🙂

Everyday people are told here: H.264 IS NOT AN EDITING CODEC
This comes up multiple times day. You’d think everyone in the know universe would know this fact by now, but yet, still, it comes up.
There should really be a sticky on the top of this forum.
