I know that this has been ASKED 10000000 times.. But it never really helps until you are in the steps to buy one.

I have about 3200 bucks to buy a LAPTOP. Please dont ask about WHY. I travel from Europe to USA alot and it just helps me.

    Anyways.

The XPS M1730 just came out but a little out of my price range..

I need processor speed. Im not sure about Vista or XP. Ill be running mostly Adobe CS3 production.

    Is Vista Ultimate Worth it

I would go MAC BUT i have to much software on PC to convert it over..

Please let me know your PROFESSIONAL OPINION. THanks

If you own a copy of Windows you can use Boot Camp (shipping in OS 10.5 which is scheduled to be released in 2 days) to boot into Windows…

Alternatively you could purchase Parallels, allowing you to run Windows in a screen within Mac OS X for only $79.99 (although driver support is better with Boot Camp).

No. At least, you shouldn’t. When booting into Windows through Boot Camp, you are literally booting into Windows… Mac OS X isn’t running anywhere on your computer, Windows should handle the 4GB of RAM in the same way it would handle 4GB of RAM in a PC box.

All 32bit versions of Windows recognize a maximum of 4GB RAM. Only 3GB of that will be available to apps, And EVEN THEN, only if you enable the 3GB RAM switch in your boot.ini file. Without that, apps in 32-bit Windows only get 2GB to play with.

64-bit Windows supports up to 128GB RAM. Same rule applies, however, in that very few applications can even use more than a few GB RAM. AE only uses anything above a few gigs for rendering purposes, and only with multicore processing enabled.

I would go with a macbook pro and run Parallels as has been suggested. Better specs/quality for the price, and while you have a lot of existing PC software you could later dabble in the Mac side (Final Cut etc.) should you desire. It’s really two machines for the price of one.

what about the new XPS M1730. It has great results and has the extreme intel duo core 2 processor. And I love the Dell Warranty

If you do get a Dell, do it through your business. Business support is much better than Home support.
