    Hi folks,

how long is a life cycle for the Xraid harddrives? At the mooment mine are running around 28000 hours. Has anybody any experience?
The thing is, that the Pata HDs are not longer available. So if more than two drives fail, I have a problem. I#ve to switch to another raid system. If your experience says roughly: Okay, after 100 000 hours its time to say good bye, I have roughly a figure I can deal with.

    Thanks

    Rainer

I had 3 drives go out within a month of each other after 3 years of constant running, it’s really a guessing game. Since then we purchased 2 8 drive raids for a fraction of the cost and have re-populated our xserve raid and use it only for temporary storage, nothing critical. It would be wise to get a new raid, you can still use your x-raid but only for non-critiacal stuff.
