  Widescreen footage to TV size editing

  5DM2 footage all in 1920 x 1080, converted to Prores422.

  Been asked to send a teaser to a TV network for show. What’s the best way to create a 720×486 (?) piece that doesn’t squish my footage and allows me to choose what part of the screen is shown and doesn’t cause me to have to render every move I make?

  I’m thinking some kind of faux letterboxing and then crop the whole file to size when finished?

  You can’t do this without rendering. Use an sd ProRes timeline at the same framerate/field order and resize to your will. Conform frame rate at the end for sd master.

  Thanks. I made side bars as a guide while sizing and moving and just hide the track for playback (so I don’t have to render it).
