skip frames
When I add a transition into my timeline and render and playback it is causing the video to skip for a second then it goes normal. Any advice on what the problem is. I am shooting with a Canon 5d MKII

Have you converted the video to a proper editing codec? Your camera records using h.264 which is not a proper editing codec.

Doing a search on the forum for editing h.264 will provide plenty of info. Your question is asked multiple times a day.

Simply stated, ProRes 422 is the goto codec in FCP.
Whenever there is a doubt in your mind, always go to ProRes 422.
And please notice. I did not say ProRes HQ, nor ProRes LT, nor ProRes Proxy. ProRes 422 should simply be considered the standard.
