  • CF card data retrieved but can’t Log & Transfer

Posted by Diarmuid Goggins on March 29, 2011 at 6:14 pm

I have an issue trying to log and transfer footage I’ve shot on a Canon 5d Mark II – the problem is that the CF card is no longer working and I had to have the data retrieved by an expert. Now I have H.264 files but no way of converting them to Apple ProRes through Log and Transfer…FCP won’t recognise the folder/media. Is there a way around this?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

    Diarmuid Goggins.

Log and transfer needs to see the origional file structure of the card which you no longer have.

    Concert them in compressor.

You also might try a great program called multiAVCHD. It can take media files and recreate a proper file/folder structure that Log and Transfer can recognize.

I used it a few days ago when a client sent us a bunch of .m2ts files, orphaned from their folder structure. After using multiAVCHD, Log and Transfer read the files perfectly.

And best of all, it’s free!

You could use Compressor, MPEG Streamclip or Grinder to convert the H264 files to ProRes.
You won’t get the data to timecode that you get from doing the log and transfer with the EOS plug in but that’s all you’ll lose.
