  I have an HD broadcast van. I send a production signal into AJA hdtv distribution amp. It then patches into black magic up cross down converter , i set it to Pal SD Letterbox. The sdi out then goes into the blackmagic deck link studio for final cut pro. I am struggling with the settings in fcp and black magic to get a SD 16×9 out onto timeline. Audio no problem, HDTV 1080i 50 no problem. Can anyone help with this.

  What is the unsatisfactory result you are getting? If you set the downconvert to PAL SD Letterbox, sounds like you’ll get 4:3 with letterbox. Can you set to PAL SD 16:9 Anamorphic?
