Hi there. I have had a recurring problem using Log and Transfer. When trying to transcose footage from my Panasonic HMC151, FCP7 either does not transcode, or crashes. I am at my wits end!

I have changed the audio/video settings countless times, saved as new projects etc etc.

I’m sure there is a simple answer. Can anyone help?

We are gonna need more info, but did you go into log and transfer prefs and uncheck remove duplicate frames and advanced pulldown? That is usually the first place I go when there is a prob with log and transfer. Do you copy the folders from the cam and then try to log and trans? Do you have enough hd space? Are you using usb or going to internal? Trash your prefs and restart fc and try again. Use easy setup to set your project to the right format, double-check your scratch disks. Not sure if it’s exactly like the p2 but did you copy all the files from the card and does it have a lastclip.txt associated with it? I’ve seen problems with that file gone when trying to transcode.

Reality? What did you make it?

Thanks Beef. The dupe frames box was checked, so I unchecked it. I eventually managed to transcode my footage by changing the settings to DV PAL! It just means that when I drag anything into the timeline, it asks me to change the settings, and I click yes.

I had to fight with it ’til I got there, though!

    Thanks for your time

    Adrian
