as a student I’ve been using final cut 6.0.6 on an old g4.
but now i want to up grade my machine to a g5 power mac with an Intel processor.
and i just want to know weather my version of final cut pro will be compatible with the new Intel processor.

I hate to break it to you but whoever is trying to sell you that computer is full of it. That computer is imaginary. A computer cannot have both a G5 processor and a Intel processor. They are completely different. Its ether a G5 Power PC or a Intel Mac Pro.

If it is a G5 then in my opinion I would NOT invest in it. You would be limiting yourself and will not be able to run current versions of FCP or Mac OS.

Apple have never made such a machine.
    G5’s have PPC processors.

Hey there, just in case you mistyped (the whole G5/Intel thing) – FCP 6 works with Intel Macs. I run it on an older Intel Mac here as well as on a G4. Basically running FCS2. If you are planning on getting a new MacBook Pro, consider getting FCS3 instead.
