Apple Prores 10bit Rendering Problem

hi
i have problem with prores codec after rendering out. when i render i got blue blank screen (see the pic)
only remedy i can found out is if the sequence setting is changed to 8 bit or RGB, which i believe it kills the purpose of working with 10bit prores codec.

Export->Quicktime is giving same blue blank screen. “Using Quicktime Conversion” makes it right. however that is a method I’d like to avoid when exporting clips from the timeline.

Does anybody have same problem or a solution?

I’m on FCP v7.03
FCP preferences has been trashed many times…
plug-ins i use : Ultimatte, Instant HD
tried on different machines (leopard or snow leopard)

Regular Apple ProRes 422 1080p footage.
Green Screen with Ultimatte plug-in and InstantHD plug-in do that symptom.

Then it seems it would be a fault of the plugin only working in 8bit. Contact the developers.

I used to have some issues with GPU not being able to handle FX based plugins. What machine spec and graphics card spec are you running?

OS: 10.5.8
Processor: 2×2.66Ghz
Ram:8GB

i tried faster processor and more ram installed computer with 10.6
same result.

when u set-up sequence settings under the “advance” tab is your Gamma setting is “off” or “Automatic”?

That is a typical symptom of rendering 1080/10b on a short GPU, however with your graphic card this shouldn’t happens.
Are you applying Ultimatte and Instant HD at the same time time?
Do this happens when you apply any of both?
Are you using any video card (BM, AJA,..)?

no, not at the same time.
those are the plug-ins that cause that blue screen.
i don’t have 2nd video card on board.

Hi Berk.
Some times I’ve got rid of problems like that just unplugging my second monitor.
That allows the GPU to dedicate more resources to rendering the Fxplugs.
Try it if you are using two monitors.

no there is no second monitor. i might change the slot of video card next week to see if that makes any difference.
