  What are the best options for digital audio recorders?

  I have used the Zoom H4N before and now I am planning to purchase an audio recorder.

  What are you favorite products for recording on site sound, especially dialogue?

  Sound Devices make a great range of portable mixer/ recorders. I have the 788T which is there flagship device. Mic pre amps are very good and they are robust, compact and extremely well featured. The 788T is probably overkill as it records 8 channels discreet plus a stereo mix down and two aux mixes to both CF and SSD drives.

  You might also like to look at the Tascam DR100 as an alternative to ZoomH4n.
  More manual controls and a little more user friendly than the Zoom H4n
