What am I dealing with here? We do a lot of live events and just shoot the direct video/audio feed via Firewire into a MBP using “Capture Now”. It’s been a flawless workflow for years, and just recently we started noticing “long frames” in the captured video. Here’s a picture of an example video clip in the timeline.

They appear to be really random. It’s pain because now we have to recapture this portion of the clip from our backup and paste it over this.

Any ideas? We’ve checked all settings, swapped every component in the workflow (including drives and the computer). We tried capturing both to externals and internal hd, changing cables, shutting down all apps, etc.

Has anyone else experienced something like this? Is there perhaps ANOTHER better or more reliable means of capturing live video on a MBP in .mov?

I like recording directly to a KiPro. It’s very safe and reliable.
