Hi guys, this is my first post. I am trying to learn and understand After Effects.

I am getting a mac soon and I was wondering if you guys would kindly help me. I was wondering where you can find video tutorials on muzzle flashes and gunshot wounds.

I am doing short videos to exercise and learn after Effects.

Do you guys know any sites or links so i can create these effects.

Search the COW for “muzzle flash” and “detonationfilms”.

Google “muzzle flash” and “after effects”. Tip: include “after effects” in Google searches for effects that will be created with AE.

Gunshot wounds are best done practically, with makeup and/or squibs. Anything else looks cheap and fake … unless the victim is a photorealistically-textured 3D model. Recall Hugo Weaving’s face distorting when punched in the third Matrix movie. That was a CG head.

    Anybody else?

Click on Andrew’s head above then hit the link for his site:

    https://www.videocopilot.net/

There is lots of stuff on guns and wounds, the exploding head tut… yucky good. He sells a DVD that has muzzle flashes.

Detonation films has some freebie muzzle flashes, here:

    https://www.detonationfilms.com/free_stuff.htm

They also have a few tuts. I think the freebies are DO quality, and they and others sell higher quality.

If you are new to AE and want to learn from the best I highly reccomend the AE Podcasts — espescially everything by A. Rabinowitz, he makes the fun stuff simple…
