Automating a task in FCP
Posted by Ian Venables on February 16, 2011 at 2:58 pmHey Gang,
I had a look around and can’t see the answer I’m looking for… Is there any way to use automator to add a 30 frame still at the end of a clip (or 100 clips)?
thanks in advance.

February 16, 2011 at 7:54 pmWhile you can’t use Automator to do this, there was a product developed several years ago by xmEdit called Traffic:
Traffic can automate tasks like the one you describe using node-based editing. Traffic isn’t cheap, and it doesn’t look like the website has been updated in a long time, so the status of Traffic’s development and its level of support is questionable.
Still, it’s an interesting looking application that might be just the ticket for anyone who needs to automate large batches of simple operations.
UPDATE:
Looks like Traffic is long gone. To bad, it was a unique tool:

Telestream Episode is another option — it’s my compression application of choice, and it allows you customize an encoder with intros or outros, and then use the encoder on a batch of files.
