50 GB or 25 GB blu ray
Posted by Nick Avaliani on February 13, 2011 at 3:36 pmDear All
I am about to write movie on blu ray disc. What you think I must do record on 50GB or 25 GB disc. the quicktime format size is about 350GB so will not be it best quality to burn 50 GB? Will compressor automatically fit in frame of 50 GB so quality would be better

February 13, 2011 at 4:41 pmWhat’s the duration of the movie Nick? The maximum data rate H264 for BluRay that Compressor can natively encode to is 35 Mbps … at that rate you’ll get about 100 minutes of video on a single layer (25GB) disc, regardless of the original raw file size.

February 13, 2011 at 6:15 pmthe lengs is 88 minutes of movie
so what you think 50 GB would be best quality or it does not matter 50GB or 25 GB

February 13, 2011 at 7:39 pmYou still haven’t told us your intentions with this project?
Are trying to write a BluRay to play on a TV or are you trying to backup a 350 gig file to BluRay discs?
If you are creating a BluRay for television, just use Compressor to compress and write your BluRay disc for you. Just like Andy told you, BluRay compression is approximately a 35 mbit H.264 so the quality will be stunning when viewed on a good quality HD TV.
You won’t be able to view your movie in its full quality as it was edited, unless you use your edit station to playback the video on a projection screen using your output card.
Your movie will fit on a 25 gig disc just fine. You’ll just be wasting a 50 gig disc, if you use one.

February 13, 2011 at 8:41 pmAs already explained Nick, if its less than 100 minutes then it will fit on a single layer (25GB) disc.
