  smaller size video squeeze issue

  I’m pulling my hair out trying to fix this issue. I have a 3 minute trailer and I’ve exported full size, using conversion…no problem. Big file size of course. I need to send it via web, so I have to make a smaller video file. I again use export>conversion, knock the frame size down to 320×240 and when it’s finished exporting, I open the quicktime to play and the image is squeezed. I’ve tried many many different compressions/export options to no avail. My current sequence setting is:

  frame size = 960×720 (HD 960×720, 16:9)
  pixel aspect ratio = HD 960×720
  editing timebase 23.98
  quicktime video setttings = Compressor (H.264)

  Please please help me out I’m going nuts trying to fix this…thanks!

  Keep your frame size at 320×240 and change your pixel aspect ratio to square. Quicktime X doesn’t deal well with the aspect ratio of 960×720. Essectially, it incorrectly interprets it. By forcing the file to square pixels, it fixes your issue.

  Made a mistake, sorry… change your frame size to 320×180 to keep your 16:9 aspect ratio intact, but still make sure the pixel aspect is square.
