Flicker Removal plug-in for FCP?
Hi, did some shooting in Europe recently, and unfortunately my shooter didn’t flip his shutter speed, and now I’ve got flicker on all footage shot under flourescents. I know the problem, 50hz vs 60hz, but need a good, hopefully cheap solution. Before anyone says, “Reshoot it!” or “it can’t be done!” please note that I downloaded a demo of the GenArts Sapphire plug-in, applied the flicker removal, and it actually worked quite well. Only problem is that plug-in costs 1700 bucks, and comes with a bunch of bells and whistles. I’m looking for a cheaper alternative that just gives me the flicker filter, not all the other stuff. Anyone know of anything? Last note, has to work in Final Cut; no virtual dub or AE filters, please!

I did. There’s a great plug-in called FurnaceCore. You can find it here:

You can get a free 15-day trial, and if you want to buy it, I picked it up from motionmedia.com. It was a life saver for me…it got rid of absolutely ALL of the flicker, on static shots, motion shots, multiple light sources, everything. It was really pretty incredible. I tried a couple of other plug-ins, but nothing worked quite as well. Only warning: it requires an incredible amount of render time (you’ll want to use the “use motion” feature in the plug-in settings, otherwise you’ll get nasty artifacts. And you’ll need to adjust some settings in the first place to get it to work). A half hour raw tape told me 7 days to render. So schedule accordingly!! But it does work wonders.

Thank you Michal! Here is a test video i did with some footage using the plugin you recomended! it works great!… Just takes forever to render… hope final cut x will change that 😛
