Blending Options from PS aren’t in AE
Having a brain freeze — would appreciate help!
Have to show a lot of names on the screen in an AE animation.
I made a big PS file with a layer for each name. My Blending Options (character stroke, bevel) aren’t showing up in AE. Without the Stroke effect the type is not as visible against the background as I’d like.
I can add a bevel in AE but can’t seem to find a Stroke to outline the type. I tried rasterizing the text in PS, re-interpreting in AE. Help please??

Did you try (in AE CS3) Layer > Layer Styles > Convert to Editable Styles?

Thanks. I feel a tad less crazy.
I’m using CS2. I’m having trouble deciding whether to upgrade to the Mac or PC version, so I’m postponing that move, and anyway I have to do this immediately.
I may just make jpgs and then turn them back into psd’s.
Any other options with CS2?

You mean AE7, right?
There’s no editable layer style support in AE 7. For most cases, it brings a “baked” version of the layer styles as a separate layer. But not always.Please post exactly what you need to do, and we’ll figure out something that works in AE 7.
You just need a visible stroke in the object’s contours?

Just save a version 2 of the psd file (or rather call the original version filename_BACKUP’) in photoshop and then on the new one group and then merge each text layer (quick way is cntl+G, cntl+E) but make sure all the layers have the same names as the originals.
Then open up AE and reload footage and it should work. Then at least you have an editble version saved incase you need to alter the text. Alternatively you could group each text layer as a smart object instead and then that should import into AE merged.
Have fun – I can’t wait to get CS3 so I don’t have to mess about with all this awkward timewasting anymore!
