    Hi

I will be capturing footage in real time as its being filmed.
    Camera is a DVX100.
Using a mac book pro with FCP7.0
    Capturing via firewire.
I need to find out if it will be shot at 24p or 24pA, but would like to know the workflow for both for future reference.

I would just like to check the workflow and the settings for FCP and if there are any known complications I should be aware of as this is the first time I will be capturing live.

As far as I am aware then I need to following set up:

    FOR 24P
Set sequence preset to DV NTSC – 23.98
Set capture preset to DV NTSC 48KHz
    Set device control to non-controllable

    FOR 24PA
Set sequence preset to DV NTSC – 23.98
Set capture preset to DV NTSC Advance (2:3:3:2) pulldown removal 48KHz
    Set device control to non-controllable

Then I simply use capture now when the camera is rolling?

Am I on the right track here?

    Thanks

    Ceri

Looks like it – they should be the same basic settings used for capture from tape, just lose the device control. I’m not to familiar with pull-downs, but if it works from tape it should be the same live.

Also, you might want to set the “Limit capture now” setting to make sure you aren’t getting cut off on long captures.

If possible, run a tape at the same time – just in case!

Also, a dropped frame might stop the capture – change your user preferences if you want to ignore dropped frames and just keep capturing.
