    Hey People,

Simple question – I am shooting with a Panasonic P2 HD HPX170P. I am shooting in 1080i60. Footage looks good, nice colors etc. When I import to FCP looks good but my timeline settings are 1280×1080 and no option for 1920×1080. Should there be an option for 1920×1080? When I export I use Apple Prores HQ 422 1920×1080 HQ option and it looks good. I am just very confused about why I don’t have a timeline option of 1920×1080. SHould I have reason to be concerned?

    Thanks,

    Brian

You should be able to solve the problem by creating a new sequence and then just dropping a clip onto it. You will get a message asking you if you want the sequence to match the clip. Choose yes and it will change it for you.

DVCPRO HD is an anamorphic format. Most HD formats are. Meaning they are squeezed horizontally. This is how they keep the data rate low. Typical 1080 is anamorphic 1440×1080. But DVCPRO HD 1080 is even more so…it is 1280×1080. But FCP will make a sequence that matches, and unsqueeze the image to make it full screen.

Yes…you are. ProRes is full raster, meaning not squeezed. DVCPRO HD is squeezed.

Nope. Everytihngs fine. Nothing to see here. Move along.
