storing avchd
Posted by Steve Tamou on January 6, 2011 at 3:49 amSince AVCHD is not native to FCP, It takes up a lot of space to store the media on the hard drive. Is there another way of storing this file with out taking up as much space?

January 6, 2011 at 4:21 amGet another hard drive. You should not be storing the AVCHD masters on the same drive as your converted media. They should be on separate drives. If the drive died, then EVERYTHING is gone.
Two sets of drives…archive drives and media drives. Archive drives can be cheaper, as in not as fast, and not needing high speed connections. USB works fine.

Personally with my AVCHD I keep the original SD card, I never re use them they are
so cost friendly and then I have a Hard drive dedicated to Backups of my SD cards. My Media Raid is then for stock or current media projects.Kent Stipp
