    Make a disk image of your SD card.

    Get another hard drive. You should not be storing the AVCHD masters on the same drive as your converted media. They should be on separate drives. If the drive died, then EVERYTHING is gone.

    Two sets of drives…archive drives and media drives. Archive drives can be cheaper, as in not as fast, and not needing high speed connections. USB works fine.

    I couldn’t agree with Steve and Shane more.
    Personally with my AVCHD I keep the original SD card, I never re use them they are
    so cost friendly and then I have a Hard drive dedicated to Backups of my SD cards. My Media Raid is then for stock or current media projects.
