  Compressor & ‘save for web’

  In quicktime x on snow leopard there is a function to ‘save for web’, in which you can select a setting called ‘computer’, which makes h264 m4v files at 5mbit datarate.

  when i try to replicate this with compressor, the files always are much larger than the m4v files made by quicktime.

  does anyone know of the exact settings i would use to replicate this quicktime compression, reducing the file size to the same as the quicktime output?

  Sure you’re looking at the right file? I think the save for web function makes a set of reference files. You might just be looking at the shell file.

  it makes an html file, a jpg for the poster, a reference movie, and the m4v.
