1080i29.97 downconvert to SD
Downconversions? What is a good way to do this digitally? Meaning would it be better to convert with Compressor, FCP export or AE? Which method would handle the footage best? I usually do this with Compressor and the frame controls but I now have and am learning AE.
OS 10.6.3, Mac Pro 2 x 2.66 ghz quad-core intel xenon, 16 gb ram, with BM Intensity Pro card

even with the frame controls set for best quality resizing, compressor just doesn’t do it as well as After Effects.

Thanks Chris. Question on AE then. Is it better to import the clip to a new comp at full size and render it out to the SD size needed or set up a new comp at the SD size needed and import the HD clip onto the SD comp and render? Is one workflow better than the other?

the only way I’ve ever done it is to drop an HD sequence into an SD widescreen comp and scale it down.
